Music

I’ve always loved music. Music has helped me through heartbreak, loss, love, happiness and everything in between. My older brother, Harley got me my first ipod and he put his music on it so I learned about so many different things through him such as the Violent Femmes, The White Stripes, Eminem, Rolling Stones, Al Green, Nina Simone, Aretha Franklin, Billy Joel, Bob Dylan, Bob Marley, Serge Gainsbourg, The Cure, David Bowie and so many more. My brother used to be in a band so, his songs were also on my ipod.

The music he introduced me to opened up for me to look up more artist that I fell in love with. There is one song that I love because it reminds me of my acting coach, Bill every time I listen to it. The song is called “if you could see me now” by The Script. My acting coach passed away when I was 15 and there isn’t a day where I don’t miss it and I always wonder if he see’s me. I miss him so much. Those lyrics make me cry every time, no matter how many times I hear it.

If you could see me now by The Script

The lyrics are:

It was February 14 Valentine’s Day
The roses came but they took you away
Tattooed on my arm is a charm to disarm all the harm
Gotta keep myself calm but the truth is you’re gone
And I’ll never get to show you these songs
Dad you should see the tours that I’m on
I see you standing there next to Mom
Both singing along, yeah arm in arm
Now there are days when I’m losing my faith
Because the man wasn’t good he was great
He’d say “Music was the home for your pain”
And explain I was young, he would say,
“Take that rage, put it on a page.
Take the page to the stage.
Blow the roof off the place.”
I’m trying to make you proud
Do everything you did
I hope you’re up there with God saying, “That’s my kid!”

I still look for your face in the crowd
Oh if you could see me now (Oh if you could see me now)
Would you stand in disgrace or take a bow?
Oh if you could see me now (Oh if you could see me now)
